Goat Month July 6 – August 5

Goat Sign
Wood Goat Month (July 6 – August 5)
 Welcome to the Goat Month!

July marks a change in the energetic “weather” as the intense, explosive double Fire of the Horse Month/Year transitions into the much-appreciated grounding energy of the Goat.

☿ Also, in Western Astrology, Mercury is Retrograde from now until the 23rd of July. Think of this as a time to slow the pace, enjoy family, friends and familiars, and not worry too much about how long things seem to take. Everything becomes a meditation. Nothing in haste.

🔥 From Wildfire to Slow Simmer 🍳

The Past Month: The Wood Horse month paired with the Fire Horse year (Bing Wu) basically creates an inferno. Wood feeds Fire, making the energy fast, loud, highly visible, and prone to extreme emotional or literal burnout.

The Shift: The Goat (Yi Wei) is a Yin Earth element. It’s still a warm, summery Earth, but its main function is to absorb, cushion, and ground the chaotic wildness of the Fire Horse year.

The Message: The frantic pace of the last four weeks is slowing down. It’s time to step out of the forge and start shaping the hot iron into a beautiful creation.

🧘‍♀️ The Goat brings a warm, steady Earth energy that invites us to slow down, anchor our breath, and turn inward. It is a beautiful month to extend your Yin Yoga holds, improve diet and digestion and soothe the nervous system.

🌟 Who Experiences the Most Impact in the Goat Month?

Pig & Rabbit Years: The Goat’s in a harmonious alliance with these signs.

Horse Years:  The Goat is your celestial secret friend and best companion.

Ox Years: The Goat directly opposes your sign. You might feel a bit restless or tight in your physical body.

⚠️ A Quick Note on Your True Birth Year Sign
Before you read your forecast below, make sure you are tracking the right animal! In BaZi Astrology, we don’t use the Western New Year (January 1st) or the Chinese Lunar New Year (which moves around in January and February) to find our year sign. Instead, for accuracy, we use the Solar Chinese Calendar, which always begins on February 4th.

🌟 Your Chinese Animal Sign Guide for the Goat Month Yoga

🐇 Rabbit & 🐷 Pig Years The Vibe: Harmonious flow.
Your Practice: The Goat completes a beautiful elemental triangle with your signs. This month, your body will feel incredibly receptive to deep stretching. Use this time for profound emotional release and long, meditative holds in Dragon pose or Sleeping Swan.

🐴 Horse Years
The Vibe: Soulful comfort.
Your Practice: The Goat as your “Secret Friend” wraps you in a soothing, protective blanket of energy. If (because) your mind has been racing, the Goat month will help you drop the mental clatter and fall back into your heart. Focus on Supported Fish pose or chest openers.

🐂 Ox Years
The Vibe: It is considered a ‘Clash’.
Your Practice: The Goat sits directly opposite you on the zodiac wheel. This is not “bad”—it simply means energy needs to move! You might feel extra tightness in your joints, hips, or lower back. Approach your mat with absolute gentleness. Focus on Child’s pose and gentle Sphinx to anchor yourself.

🐯 Tiger & 🐰 Rooster Years
The Vibe: Steady pacing.
Your Practice: The earthy Goat requires you to slow down your natural momentum. For the active Tiger and precise Rooster, this month asks you to cultivate patience with your physical edges. Focus on Caterpillar pose (Forward Fold) to quiet the nervous system.

🐉 Dragon, 🐐 Goat, & 🐕 Dog Years:
The Vibe: Earth element amplification.
Your Practice: As fellow Earth signs, the Goat month multiplies your elemental energy. This can sometimes manifest as physical heaviness, sluggish digestion, or stubbornness of the mind. Yin Yoga is your medicine this month to keep the energy moving. Focus on deep Twists to stimulate your heart centre.

🐀 Rat, 🐍 Snake, & 🐒 Monkey Years
The Vibe: Quiet observation.
Your Practice: The energetic climate is neutral but introspective for you. It is a wonderful month to slip under the radar, avoiding the spotlight where you can. For now, focus on a deeply private, self-care routine. Your body will crave stillness. Why not try Wall Yin or Supported Butterfly with plenty of props.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 How might this month (July 6th – Aug 5th) play out in Career and Connections?
The Horse Year signature energy is fiercely independent, highly competitive, and single-mindedly focused on personal freedom. Let’s face it: not always a team player. But now, for the next 30 days, the Goat allows us to thrive on community, teamwork, empathy, and collective harmony. If you aren’t in hermit mode, you’ll shift from “me” to “we” consciousness. It’s an excellent time to reconnect with your inner circle of friends (or weed out those who are no longer a vibrational match). You might find yourself collaborating on projects and healing any friction or heated arguments that boiled over during the intense Horse month just past. Make peace.

Healing in the Goat Month and Goat Days

Note that the Goat is a dry, sun-baked Earth sign, but it acts like a sponge. In a Fire year, this means the “moisture” in our charts can become depleted, needing extra consideration and care. Consider actively supporting WATER in your life. This means prioritising physical hydration, avoiding burnout, spending time near literal water, and choosing calming, grounding activities over high-stress environments.

Choose Yin over Yang. You take more downtime, walks in nature, ritual hydration, Zen-style exercise, and avoid inflammatory people, places, and things, including foods like non-organic varieties rich in pesticides/GMO, processed, sugar, or any bad oils/fats. Talk to your herbalist or acupuncturist about cooling Yin herbs and perhaps organic beet juice drinks for kidney Jing.

Heating foods like chilis, ginger, garlic, onions and leeks can help move stagnant energy, but might be too HOT 🔥 in Fire Horse Year. Adjust amounts based on how you feel.

Take note of the Goat Days

Yoga for the Goat Month

The focus this month is on balancing the parched HEAT of the Fire Horse and inviting the calm, healing, and grounded GOAT energy. In TCM, stagnant energy (Qi) leads to frustration, physical inflammation, and low mood. But activating the Qi through a Yin practice helps unblock energy and trigger happy brain messengers. Done regularly, you’ll find you smile more, sleep deeper, have fewer hot flashes, and make more beneficial choices.
